Postponement Announcement of The 12th International Symposium on Strain-Gauge Balances
With the recent spread of the COVID-19 virus, the committee set a deadline for making a decision to continue or postpone the upcoming symposium. The deadline has arrived and although we were hoping to find a positive change with respect to the virus, quite the opposite has occurred with the World Health Organisation declaring it “High Risk” on a global scale.
We consider all of the delegates to be very valuable members of the international wind tunnel testing community and do not feel comfortable putting any of them at any level of risk. We wanted to allow sufficient time for delegates to cancel bookings and any other arrangements that they may have already made.
The 12th International Symposium on Strain-Gauge Balances will be postponed. At this time we hope to reschedule, likely in 2021. We will provide updated information as soon as it is available.
Please note: Two different venues will host the 12th ISSGB. Legacy Hotels The Centurion Hotel will host the symposium from the 17th to 18th of May 2020. On the 18th of May, all attendees and partners will transfer to the African bushveld where Legacy Hotels Bakubung Bush Lodge will host the symposium until the 21st of May. On the 22nd of May, a return airport transfer is available to all attendees and partners from Bakubung Bush Lodge. The airport transfer departs Bakubung Bush Lodge at 09:00 and arrives at O.R. Tambo International Airport at 12:00.
Most non-South African citizens wishing to enter South Africa must have a valid visa. A visa letter of invitation will be emailed to each delegate once a completed registration form has been received. Requirements for entry into South Africa differ from country to country and can change at any time. For more information on required travel documents and how to apply for a visa to visit South Africa, contact your nearest South African diplomatic or consular representative or visit the Department of Home Affairs website.
